Fun, relaxation, & culture

There is so much to see and do here

The Dutch have managed to hold back the water for more than 750 years. At Kinderdijk, you can learn how we have managed to live under sea level for centuries. You can take a boat trip and sail past gigantic windmills, meet the millers, and have a look around inside the windmills. Here, you can learn about the past and present of water management.

Heritage

Invaluable Dutch history

Kinderdijk is one of the few sites in the Netherlands listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Together, we protect this unique piece of heritage: the windmills, the landscape, and the story of the ingenious Dutch who learned to protect themselves from the water.

We are a non-profit organization. Together with more than 270 dedicated volunteers and 100 employees, we work every day to preserve this remarkable area. With your ticket, you directly contribute to the maintenance of the windmills and the landscape, and to passing on the story of Kinderdijk to future generations.
