Your adventure starts at one of the museum locations, where you can learn about the history of Kinderdijk. After that, you step aboard our boat and, with the wind in your hair, you will sail to one of the museum mills. Once there, you can find out what it was like to live in and among the windmills centuries ago.

Visit our Wisboom Pumping Station or the film and exhibition
You can take a deep dive into the history of Kinderdijk: in Wisboom Pumping Station or in the video and exhibition room. As soon as you step into Wisboom Pumping Station, you will feel the force of this machine, which can pump away as much as seven times more than the windmills. The scale model demonstrates the workings of Wisboom Pumping Station, and a windmill game encourages you to fight the force of the water yourself.
The video and exhibition will give you a glimpse into the rich past of floods, windmills, innovations, and survival. It is a thought-provoking experience.
The windmills seen from the water
Come aboard our tour boat and sail through the picture postcard we call Kinderdijk: the windmills are even more impressive from the water. While you are breathing in the fresh air, you can take the most beautiful photographs of the Dutch countryside. Good to know: you can either sail there OR sail back again, so you have a chance to stretch your legs on walk of about twenty minutes. If a walk of this duration isn’t suitable for you, we can also arrange a return boat trip for an additional €2.00 per person.
Visit the windmill
You will sail to Blokweer Museum Mill or Nederwaard Museum Mill. Once inside, you will be delighted at all you see, and you can experience the windmill’s power. You can actually hear the water flowing below the windmill. When the wind rages, the sails turn at full power. You will travel back in time for hundreds of years and experience even more of Kinderdijk’s history, no matter which windmill you visit.
