Picnic among the Windmills

Take a relaxing break during your visit with a freshly prepared picnic box from the Blokweer Museum Mill. Order it at the museum shop and find the perfect spot among the windmills.

A visit to Kinderdijk often lasts longer than you expect. Stroll past the historic windmills, enjoy a boat tour and step inside the museum mills. Along the way, it’s nice to take a moment to relax. This summer, you can pick up a picnic box filled with fresh products at the shop of the Blokweer Museum Mill. Take it with you into the World Heritage site and choose your own place to enjoy lunch.

After exploring the area, a picnic is the perfect way to pause and recharge. At the shop of the Blokweer Museum Mill, one of our staff members will prepare your picnic box fresh for you. Prefer a vegetarian option? We will happily adjust the contents on the spot. Moments later, you’ll be back among the windmills with a delicious picnic ready to enjoy.

Choose your perfect view

You won’t have to look far. Picnic tables can be found throughout the area, offering peaceful places to sit and enjoy your meal. Prefer sitting on the grass? Rent a picnic blanket from the shop and find your own scenic spot overlooking the windmills. Enjoy a Caesar wrap, local cheese, fresh fruit and juice while the sails of the windmills slowly turn in the background. A special children’s picnic box is also available, including a cheese sandwich, fruit and other tasty treats.

The picnic box is available this summer (until 30 August) exclusively from the shop at the Blokweer Museum Mill. Prices start at €37.50 for two people, with additional adults available for €18.75 each and children for €9.95 each. Picnic boxes are available daily until 2.30 pm, while stocks last.
